KEN BLAIR Managing Director

Ken began his career at Craighall Studios in Edinburgh, recording Scottish traditional music, He went on to work for George Martin’s AIR Montserrat Studios in the West Indies, on albums with Boy George, Rush, and Sting. In 1989 he founded the UK-based location recording company, BMP, within which he works today. Ken is a graduate of the University of Surrey’s renowned Tonmeister degree programme.
As an engineer, Ken has recorded hundreds of projects throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. Highlights include: the Prokofiev Piano Concertos with Nikolai Demidenko and the London Philharmonic Orchestra; Davitt Moroney's Gramophone Award winning box-set of the keyboard works of William Byrd; recordings with the Schola Gregoriana of Cambridge in Notre Dame Cathedral and the Vatican, and an album of Highland bagpipe music in Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye. Ken’s jazz recordings include albums with pianist Nikki Iles, saxophonist Alan Barnes and trumpet player Steve Waterman.
As a producer, Ken has worked extensively at the Flint Collection of historic keyboard instruments in the USA, producing albums with harpsichordists Karen Flint, Arthur Haas, Davitt Moroney and Trevor Pinnock. in the UK, he has produced recordings for ABRSM Publishing, Trinity College London Press and Oxford University Press.
As an educator Ken is a visiting lecturer to the Tonmeister course at the University of Surrey. He's a member of the Music Producers Guild, and the Audio Engineering Society, for whom he sits on jury panels for international student recording competitions.

JONATHAN LEE Associate
Producer
Jonathan studied at the Junior Royal Academy of Music, in Stellenbosch, and at Cambridge University, where he was organ scholar of Sidney Sussex College.
As a producer he has worked on recordings with Peterborough Cathedral Choir, Amici Voices, London Gay Men’s Chorus, St Marylebone Parish Church, Song in the City, and the Beauregard Youth Choir. In addition he has been producer or co-producer for many sets of ABRSM syllabus recordings, including recordings with Emma Johnson and John Lenehan, Charles Owen, and Gary Ryan.
Jonathan is full-time organist of Christ's Hospital in West Sussex, where he teaches the organ and piano, accompanies choirs and is curator of the school's five organs. Previous to this he was organist at Berkhamsted School and Berkhamsted Parish Church, and was also accompanist or director of a number of choirs in that area. In 2017 Jonathan directed the Royal School of Church Music National Course in South Africa. He is staff accompanist on the annual New London Music Society summer school. For ten years he worked for ABRSM as a music editor, where he was responsible for their piano exam books, edited composer biography volumes, and worked as an editor on Barry Cooper's ground-breaking Beethoven Sonatas edition.

CHARLIE HEMBROW Associate

Charlie is a recording engineer and editor. He studied Music and Sound Recording on the Tonmeister course at the University of Surrey, specialising in classical recording.
As an engineer and editor, Charlie has worked on a wide range of recordings for labels such as Decca, Hyperion, Naxos and Orchid Classics. Recent releases include the LPO’s Gramophone-nominated recording of James MacMillan’s Christmas Oratorio, a series of acclaimed discs from the London Choral Sinfonia, and the first ever complete recording of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s musical Carousel, with John Wilson’s Sinfonia of London.
In addition to his recording work, Charlie designs and installs recording studios and audio systems for composers and engineers - including the expansion and refurbishment of the studio at RSNO in Glasgow. This technical expertise, combined with his keen musical ear, offers him unique insight into what can be achieved in the studio and how best to translate it to the end listener.
Outside of work, Charlie is an enthusiastic musician, having played in orchestras, choirs and jazz bands for many years.
